With more than two decades of experience in technology and cybersecurity, Andres Marten has established himself as a recognized leader in cyber intelligence, threat hunting, incident response, and strategic security leadership. His background combines deep technical expertise with a strong business-oriented executive perspective, enabling him to advise complex organizations operating in some of the most challenging and sophisticated threat environments in the region.
Before founding APT Zero, Andres built a distinguished career at IBM, where he spent more than a decade serving in senior security consulting and regional leadership roles across Latin America. As part of that trajectory, he worked for three years in the United States, operating directly from the corporate offices of a strategic client as well as IBM's primary Security Operations Center (SOC) in Atlanta, contributing to high-criticality security operations and investigations within large-scale enterprise environments.
Throughout his career at IBM, Andres led multidisciplinary teams responsible for advanced investigations, cyber defense initiatives, and strategic security programs for Fortune 500 organizations and major multinational enterprises. He also served as a trusted technical escalation point and strategic advisor for high-severity incidents, including complex cyber investigations, advanced persistent threats (APT), and response operations within highly sensitive environments.
His work has consistently focused on helping organizations strengthen security maturity through enhanced detection and response capabilities, improved threat visibility, optimized security operations, and cybersecurity strategies aligned with business objectives. His ability to translate highly technical findings into clear, actionable executive decisions has allowed him to work effectively with both technical teams and senior leadership.
Andres combines hands-on operational experience, corporate leadership, and a strong academic and professional background. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and maintains a portfolio of industry-recognized certifications including CISSP, CISM, CEH, and CySa+. Complementing his cybersecurity expertise, he has also completed advanced studies in artificial intelligence at The University of Texas at Austin, earning both the Artificial Intelligence for Leaders certificate and the Postgraduate Program in Artificial Intelligence and Automation.
